Like in every program even SimControl have some known problems. Bigges problem is that installing a zip - add on file is much more ineffective then installing an unzipped add on. So if you have a problem with the installation of a zip archive, then unzip the file first - choose the main folder of this (unzipped) add on and then press "Import" button. You will see that more then 90% of all add ons could be installed!

Sometime if you install an aircraft SimControl show you an error message. What could be the reason for an faild installation? One reason could be that the aircraft.cfg file of the plane is written without taking care about the Microsoft rules. Most of the time the reason is, that the author use blanks or tabs inside the lines in the aircraft.cfg file. A line :

ui_manufacturer = Boeing is much different to ui_manufacturer=Boeing

So first of all try to find out the reason why the installation failed. Open the aircraft.cfg file and look for blanks and Tabs.

After this check the folder and files of the add on. If you have the folders: "model - panel - sound - texture" you have the basic structure. If you have folders called "panel_doc" or "panel_ ...." then SimControl have a problem, because it is looking inside this folder for a panel.cfg file and if NOT found Simcontrol generates an error. We will fix it in the next version.

DLL error messages in FlightSimulator 2004 - Flight Simulator do not start!

The handling of modules in the new Flight Simulator is totally different to the previous version. So it could happen that you import a plane and after starting FS2004 you receive an error message and FS2004 is closed. This is because of an incompatible module file. Modules are sometimes a part of the installation and we have no chance to proof the module before installation. All modules are listed in a list in the preference section and each time you isntall a add on you will receive a message if an module (DLL file) is installed. So if you receive an error during startup FS2004 show you the name of the failed DLL file. After this open SimControl goto the preferences and DESELECT this DLL in the module list. After this FS2004 will work. In the past the only DLL which could make problems is GaugeSound.dll
